McDavid, Hyman score two apiece as Oilers top Stars 6-1

The Edmonton Oilers dominated the Dallas Stars in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final, taking a 2-1 series lead with a convincing 6-1 victory on Sunday night. Zach Hyman led the charge with two goals and an assist, while Connor McDavid also contributed with a pair of goals.

Evan Bouchard and John Klingberg also found the back of the net for the Oilers, with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tallying three assists in the win. Stuart Skinner was solid in goal, making 36 saves to secure his first non-shutout victory of the playoffs.

After a disappointing collapse in Game 1, the Oilers have now won two straight games against the Stars. Dallas managed to get on the board with a goal from Jason Robertson, but they struggled to keep up with Edmonton’s offensive firepower.

The Oilers got off to a strong start, scoring two quick goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. Dallas fought back in the second period, but McDavid’s second goal of the night late in the period gave Edmonton a comfortable cushion heading into the final frame.

In the third period, Hyman and Klingberg added to the Oilers’ lead with two more goals, putting the game out of reach for the Stars. Dallas was missing forward Roope Hintz, who was injured in Game 2, and they were unable to generate enough offense to overcome Edmonton’s strong performance.

Despite some controversy over a slash by Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse, the Oilers were able to maintain their composure and secure the win. With defenseman Mattias Ekholm expected to return from injury in Game 4, the Oilers will look to extend their series lead and move one step closer to the Stanley Cup Final.
