Megan Thee Stallion seeks restraining order on Tory Lanez

Megan Thee Stallion Seeks Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez from Prison

Megan Thee Stallion has taken legal action by requesting a restraining order against Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting her in the feet. The hip-hop star filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that Lanez is continuing to harass her through surrogates while behind bars.

The petition aims to prevent Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson, from using third parties to perpetuate online harassment against Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete. Despite his prison sentence, Lanez allegedly shows no signs of stopping the harassment, causing repeated trauma and revictimization for Megan.

Lanez’s lawyers have not yet responded to the petition, and a court hearing on the matter is scheduled for Jan. 9. The filing highlights that bloggers acting on Lanez’s behalf have been spreading false claims, including questioning the evidence in the case.

Lanez was convicted of assault with a firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm in December 2022. Despite a motion for a new trial being rejected, Lanez’s legal team is appealing the conviction. The sentencing marked the end of a tumultuous legal battle that began in 2020.

During the trial, Megan testified that Lanez shot her after they left a party, leading to a public outcry within the hip-hop community. The case shed light on issues such as the treatment of Black victims, gender dynamics in hip-hop, and the importance of protecting Black women.

The new court filing, as reported by TMZ, underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Megan in seeking justice and safety from her perpetrator. The legal saga continues to raise important conversations surrounding misogyny, online harassment, and the intersection of race and gender in the music industry.
