Metro Vancouver gas prices spike to an average $1.80 a litre

Drivers in Metro Vancouver are facing a sudden increase in gas prices in recent days, with no clear explanation for the spike. According to the GasBuddy price tracking app and website, the average price for a litre of regular unleaded gasoline has surpassed $1.80 as of Sunday.
Throughout the week, prices have been on the rise, fluctuating between $1.55 and $1.65 before reaching the current levels. In comparison, the Fraser Valley, which does not have the TransLink tax of 18.5 cents per litre, has an average price of just under $1.58. Meanwhile, in Greater Victoria, motorists are paying around $1.67 per litre.
As drivers grapple with these higher prices at the pump, there is uncertainty about what is driving the sudden increase. With no clear reason for the spike, consumers are left wondering when prices will stabilize or if they will continue to climb.
