Miami’s CJ Daniels makes spectacular one-handed TD catch vs Notre Dame

Miami Hurricanes wide receiver CJ Daniels made an incredible catch during the team’s 27-24 victory over Notre Dame, solidifying his place as a catch of the year candidate. With just 12 seconds left in the first half, Daniels saved a potential interception by leaping in the air and snagging the ball behind his head with one hand, falling into the end zone for a touchdown. The crowd at Hard Rock Stadium erupted in excitement as Miami took a 14-7 lead against the Fighting Irish.
The touchdown had to be reviewed by referees to confirm that Daniels had crossed the goal line with the ball secured, and the call stood, keeping Miami in the lead. The Hurricanes had gotten on the board first with a touchdown pass from quarterback Carson Beck to Malachi Toney, and the momentum continued with Daniels’ spectacular catch.
In the second half, Miami extended their lead with a touchdown from CharMar Brown, but Notre Dame fought back, tying the game at 24 late in the fourth quarter. However, Beck led the Hurricanes on a game-winning drive, culminating in a field goal by Carter Davis with just over a minute remaining.
Despite a last-minute effort by Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr, Miami held on for the victory. Daniels finished the game with five catches for 46 yards and his unforgettable touchdown grab, while Toney led the team with 82 yards receiving. Beck had a solid debut, throwing for 205 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
On the other side, Carr threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Notre Dame’s Eli Raridon led all receivers with 97 yards, but Miami’s defense held the Fighting Irish running game in check.
The win will likely propel Miami up the AP Top 25 rankings, while Notre Dame will have to regroup after a tough loss. It was a thrilling game that showcased the talent and determination of both teams.
