‘Unlawful DEI-motivated’ discrimination in the workplace to be rooted out by Trump’s new acting EEOC chair

President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as acting chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has made it clear that rooting out illegal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices in the workplace will be a top priority. Andrea Lucas, who was appointed as a commissioner in 2020 under the first Trump administration, has been vocal about her commitment to enforcing federal anti-discrimination laws.
In a statement released to Fox News Digital, Lucas outlined her priorities, which include addressing unlawful DEI-motivated race and sex discrimination, protecting American workers from national origin discrimination, defending the biological and binary reality of sex, protecting workers from religious bias and harassment, and remedying areas of under-enforcement within the EEOC.
“I am honored to be chosen by President Trump to lead the EEOC, our nation’s premier civil rights agency enforcing federal employment anti-discrimination laws,” Lucas stated. “I look forward to restoring evenhanded enforcement of employment civil rights laws for all Americans. In recent years, this agency has remained silent in the face of multiple forms of widespread, overt discrimination.”
Trump recently signed executive orders related to DEI programs, aiming to end what he described as “radical and wasteful” initiatives within the federal government. Lucas echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of rejecting identity politics and focusing on individual rights.
“Our employment civil rights laws are a matter of individual rights,” Lucas asserted. “We must reject the twin lies of identity politics: that justice is measured by group outcomes and that civil rights exist solely to remedy harms against certain groups.”
As the new acting chair of the EEOC, Lucas is determined to ensure equal justice under the law and to emphasize equal opportunity, merit, and colorblind equality. Her appointment signals a shift towards a more proactive approach to combating discrimination in the workplace and upholding the principles of fairness and equality for all.
