Mont-Tremblant World Cup skiing races cancelled due to warm weather

2024 PwC Tremblant World Cup Cancelled Due to Warm Weather

Fans looking forward to watching the world’s top woman skiers compete in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec next week will be disappointed as the PwC Tremblant World Cup has been cancelled. The races, originally scheduled for December 7 and 8, have been called off due to unseasonably warm weather.

In a news release issued on Friday, organizers announced the unfortunate decision to cancel this year’s event. Peter Gerdol, a race director at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, cited the lack of cold weather necessary for proper snow coverage as the reason behind the cancellation.

Gerdol emphasized that the safety of the athletes, staff, and volunteers is paramount, and the current conditions are simply not suitable for hosting a race of this caliber. As a result, the event had to be called off to ensure the well-being of all involved.

For ticket holders, refunds will be processed automatically in the coming days. Additionally, those who had booked lodging for the event will be contacted to confirm, change, or cancel their reservations. The next PwC Tremblant World Cup is now scheduled to take place on December 6 and 7 in 2025.

This report by The Canadian Press was originally published on November 30, 2024.
