US Election 2024

More voters support AI compared to two years ago but lack confidence

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into various tech platforms and workplaces has been a topic of discussion for many years. A recent Fox News national survey reveals that while there is a growing positive sentiment towards AI, there is still a significant level of skepticism surrounding its impact on society.

According to the survey, 43% of respondents view AI technology as a positive force for society, which is a 5-point increase from previous surveys. However, nearly half of voters (47%) still believe that AI has a negative impact on society, a sentiment that has remained relatively consistent over the past few years.

The survey also highlighted some interesting demographic trends in attitudes towards AI. Urban voters, nonwhite voters, younger voters, and men are more likely to see AI in a positive light, while rural voters, White voters, older voters, and women are more likely to view AI negatively.

When asked about their initial reactions to AI, respondents expressed a range of emotions. Fear, distrust, and general negativity were common negative responses, while innovation, positivity, and cautious optimism were common positive reactions. Some respondents also mentioned concerns about abuse, privacy, regulation, and the potential impact on jobs.

Interestingly, the survey found that a significant portion of respondents (27%) use AI platforms regularly, with nonwhite men, Hispanic voters, urban voters, and younger voters being the most frequent users. Those who see AI as negative for society are more likely to use it rarely or never.

Despite the growing use of AI, there is still a lack of confidence in the government’s ability to regulate AI effectively. While a majority of respondents feel confident in their ability to identify AI-generated content, they are less confident in the government’s regulatory capabilities.

Overall, the survey reflects a mixed sentiment towards AI, with a slight increase in positive attitudes towards the technology. As AI continues to play a larger role in our lives, it is important for policymakers, tech companies, and society as a whole to address the concerns and challenges associated with its integration.

The Fox News survey was conducted in June 2025 and included interviews with 1,003 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points, and weights were applied to ensure demographic representation. The full survey results can be accessed through the provided links.
