Mountie gets headbutted while making arrest in Lower Sackville

Handcuffs and a Taser weren’t enough to prevent a Lower Sackville man from headbutting a police officer.

RCMP responded late Friday night to a report of an assault at a home on Coles Road in Lower Sackville, where they were told a man had assaulted a woman known to him, threatened her with a weapon and damaged property in the home.

RCMP say when their officers arrived, the man came out of the home and began threatening them.

Mounties used a conducted energy weapon and got the man in cuffs after a brief struggle. While they were taking the man to a police vehicle, he headbutted one of the officers in the face, causing minor injuries.

Ray Saxon Fancy, 28, faces three counts of uttering threats, committing an assault by choking, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Fancy will remain in custody until he appears in Dartmouth provincial court Tuesday.
