Ryobi brand Electric pressure coils recalled after injuries, Breuken reported

Over 780,000 Pressure Wash Machines Recalled Due to Projectile Danger

Recently, a significant recall has been issued for pressure wash machines sold at retailers like Home Depot in the US and Canada. The recall is due to a dangerous issue that has caused fractures and injuries in some consumers.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a reminder about the recall of certain models of Ryobi-Branded Electric pressure washers by TTI Outdoor Power Equipment. The recall is related to overheating capacitors that can burst, leading to parts being shed forcefully. This poses a serious risk of impact for users and bystanders.

According to the CPSC, there have been 135 reports of overheated capacitors in the US, with 41 explosions resulting in 32 injuries to consumers’ fingers, hands, face, and eyes. Health Canada has not received any additional reports of incidents related to the recall in Canada.

The affected Ryobi pressure washers have model numbers RY142300 and RY142711VNM, with approximately 764,000 units sold in the US and 16,000 in Canada.

Free Repair Kit Available for Consumers

Consumers who have these recalled pressure washers are advised to stop using them immediately and visit Ryobi’s Recall website for information on receiving a free repair kit, which includes a replacement capacitor. Canadian consumers can also contact TTI Outdoor Power Equipment Inc. at 800-597-9624.

These products were sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet in the US between July 2017 and June 2024. TTI Outdoor Power Equipment, a subsidiary of Techtronic Industries (TTI), is the manufacturer of these recalled pressure washers.
