N.S. Mountie facing another sexual assault charge

Nova Scotia RCMP officer, Const. William McNutt, is facing a series of sexual assault charges, with a new charge being added to his list of allegations. The Serious Incident Response Team, an independent body overseeing police conduct, received an allegation against McNutt in March. The allegation pertains to an incident in January 2023 involving a woman known to the officer.
McNutt was charged with sexual assault on Monday and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, on Thursday. This recent charge adds to the previous allegations against him. In June 2025, McNutt was charged with sexual assault in connection to an incident in May 2024, where a woman accused a Nova Scotia Mountie of assaulting her.
The RCMP had already suspended McNutt without pay in January 2024 due to separate allegations that led to three other charges of sexual assault and related offenses being laid against him in July 2024. The mounting charges against McNutt highlight the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing legal proceedings he is facing.
The case involving Const. William McNutt underscores the importance of accountability and transparency within law enforcement agencies. The Serious Incident Response Team’s involvement in investigating allegations against police officers ensures that misconduct is thoroughly examined and addressed. As the legal process unfolds, the justice system will determine the outcome of the charges against McNutt.
The RCMP officer’s situation serves as a reminder of the need for proper oversight and accountability mechanisms to uphold the integrity of law enforcement and ensure that officers are held accountable for their actions. The public trust in the police force relies on the transparency and accountability of officers, and cases like this highlight the importance of addressing misconduct promptly and effectively.
