N.S. to spend $5 million on repairs to trails damaged by July flooding

HALIFAX, N.S. — If your favourite nature trail was damaged by July flooding in Nova Scotia, chances are it’s getting fixed.

And if it’s not already among the list of 47 earmarked for repairs in a $5 million spending announcement from the provincial government, it could still be added.

NS Trails will help groups and organizations looking to remediate their favourite walking spots get funding that can be used to pay contractors or reimburse community groups for work they’ve already done.

“We all want the trails we rely on to be fixed,” said Service Nova Scotia Minister Colton LeBlanc. “Non-profit trail organizations know these trails best, and many have already begun the work to repair them. We’ll reimburse them for the damage already fixed and use this funding to help others begin repairs.”

Government said more can be added if additional damage is identified.
