Navy pulls off upset over Army with Trump, star-studded group in attendance
History repeated itself in the annual Army-Navy clash, with the Midshipmen emerging victorious with a 31-13 win over the Black Knights. This victory improved Navy’s all-time record against Army to 63-55-7.
Navy got off to a strong start, scoring a touchdown on their first drive and capitalizing on an interception to take a 14-0 lead. Army managed to cut the deficit in half before halftime and added a field goal at the beginning of the second half to make it a four-point game.
However, Navy extended their lead with a 52-yard touchdown catch and run by running back Eli Heidenreich, making it 21-10 late in the third quarter. A fake punt by Navy on fourth down further solidified their lead, with nose tackle Landon Robinson running 29 yards for a first down. Navy eventually scored again, bringing the score to 28-13.
Army’s hopes for a comeback were dashed when quarterback Bryson Daily threw an interception, allowing Navy to seal the game with a field goal. With this win, Navy secured the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, having also defeated Air Force earlier in the season.
The game also featured the traditional “Honoring the Fallen” ceremony, where both teams sang each other’s alma mater. President-elect Trump attended the game along with other notable figures, marking his first appearance at the contest since 2020.
Both Navy and Army now turn their attention to their respective bowl games. Navy will face Oklahoma in the Armed Forces Bowl, while Army awaits their Independence Bowl opponent after Marshall dropped out.
The game saw a rare offensive showing, with the total points exceeding expectations. Navy’s Blake Horvath stood out with 204 yards on 25 carries and two rushing touchdowns, along with two passing touchdowns on just nine attempts.
Looking ahead, the 126th edition of the Army-Navy game will take place in Baltimore before moving to East Rutherford, New Jersey, in 2026. For more sports coverage, follow Fox News Digital and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
