NBA news: Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic drains impressive full-court shot
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic channeled his inner Bo Nix during the Nuggets’ impressive 129-93 victory over the Utah Jazz on Friday night. The game-changing moment came right before halftime when the Nuggets held a 54-47 lead. Jazz guard Collin Sexton managed to score a layup with just four seconds left on the clock. As the inbound pass came to Jokic, he showcased some incredible footwork, euro-stepping around a defender before launching a jaw-dropping 62-foot 3-pointer.
The shot from Jokic was reminiscent of a quarterback’s hail mary pass, hitting nothing but net as the buzzer sounded. Speaking about his incredible shot after the game, Jokic humbly remarked, “It felt really good when it left my hand. So, I mean, I shot, I missed, basically probably in this season 30 of those full-court heaves. I made two. That’s a good percentage I think, right? 10 percent maybe less. I think it’s a good percentage from the full-court shots.”
The momentum from Jokic’s miraculous shot propelled the Nuggets to dominate the second half, ultimately securing a 36-point win – their largest victory of the season. With this win, the Nuggets completed a regular-season sweep over the Jazz.
In terms of individual performance, Jokic was outstanding, finishing the game with 27 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Notably, Jokic also surpassed the 16,000-point milestone, becoming the fastest player in NBA history to reach 16,000 points, 8,000 rebounds, and 5,000 assists.
This remarkable feat was achieved in just 739 games, breaking the previous record held by Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird, who reached the milestone in 799 games.
