Netanyahu reveals Israel struck ‘at the heart’ of Iran’s nuclear program

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that a significant strike took place on one of Iran’s top nuclear facilities during Thursday night’s attack on the regime. Netanyahu emphasized the alarming progress Iran has made in enriching enough uranium for nine atomic bombs, with intentions to weaponize this highly enriched uranium, potentially leading to the production of a nuclear weapon in a short period.
The Natanz Nuclear Facility, a crucial site in Iran’s nuclear program, was targeted in the strikes, alongside the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, which collectively have the capacity to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for 11 nuclear weapons within a month. While the extent of the damage inflicted on Natanz remains uncertain, security experts have pointed out the potential grave consequences of these strikes.
In his live remarks following the attack, Netanyahu underscored that the strikes aimed at crippling Iran’s nuclear enrichment and weaponization programs. This action follows a previous incident in 2020 where the Natanz facility suffered partial destruction due to an explosion. Recent satellite imagery has indicated Iran’s efforts to construct deep underground tunnels to further fortify and conceal their nuclear activities.
Moreover, reports suggest that the Parchin military complex was also targeted in the overnight strikes, although independent verification of this information is pending. The Parchin complex, previously damaged in Israel’s October strikes, housed a nuclear weapons research facility. Additionally, five military bases surrounding Tehran were reportedly hit in the strikes.
Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s commitment to preventing Iran, deemed as the world’s most dangerous regime, from acquiring nuclear weapons and potentially sharing them with terrorist groups. The implications of Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities pose a significant threat to global security, with the potential for nuclear terrorism reaching European and American cities.
As tensions escalate in the region, the international community closely monitors the aftermath of these strikes and their implications for regional stability. The developments underscore the ongoing challenges posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the Middle East.
