New ice plant approved for Colchester Legion Stadium

A new ice plant will be added to the Colchester Legion Stadium’s renovations.

Costing $3,000,000, the ice plant was approved by council. It will be added to their Honeywell Facility Upgrade project, which gives the town a 25-year savings guarantee, reads a Facebook post by the municipality.

During their Jan. 8 meeting, council also approved the use of $500,000 from the capital reserve fund to restore damages to the stadium’s interior walls. Work is currently being done to repair the stadium’s steel roof, which is expected to be completed this month.

The Colchester Legion Stadium was shut down indefinitely after post-tropical storm Fiona swept through Nova Scotia on Sept. 24, 2022. It is currently slated to reopen in September 2024, just in time for the next hockey season.
