New Minas RCMP arrest and charge two women during drug bust

NEW MINAS, N.S. — Police in New Minas arrested two women after seizing drugs during a house search in the community on Jan. 26.

Kings District RCMP, with the help of police dogs, executed a search warrant at a home on Highland Court as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

During the search, police arrested April Schofield, 34, from New Minas, and Amanda Cleveland, 41, from Kentville, and seized cocaine, mushrooms, scales, cellphones and ammunition.

Schofield and Cleveland have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The two women were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on March 26 at 9:30 a.m.
