‘New sheriff in town’: Parents ‘overjoyed’ with Trump’s DEI crackdown, education group says

Parents are thrilled with the direction of the education system under President Donald Trump, as he has taken decisive action to address so-called woke practices in schools. According to a parents’ rights education group, the trajectory of education in the country is finally shifting in a positive direction after years of pushback.

In his first two weeks in office, President Trump signed several executive orders related to education, focusing on school funding, antisemitism, and a federal review of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices in federally funded institutions. Additionally, his administration launched an investigation into a Colorado school district for allegedly discriminating against female students by converting a girls’ restroom into an all-gender facility while leaving the boys’ restroom for males only.

Nicole Neily, the founder and president of Parents Defending Education, expressed optimism about the investigation, stating that it will pave the way for a crackdown on similar policies in schools nationwide. She emphasized that the Trump administration’s actions signal a new approach to education, one that values the differences between sexes and prioritizes a colorblind education.

One of the key initiatives undertaken by President Trump was a federal review of DEI teachings and practices in educational institutions receiving federal funding. This review aimed to restore merit-based opportunity and eliminate divisive ideologies from the education system. Neily applauded this move, highlighting the importance of focusing on educating children and restoring trust in the system.

Regarding the idea of abolishing the Department of Education to give states more control over their schools, Neily supported the notion, stating that states understand their communities’ needs and values better than the federal government. By decentralizing education policy, she believes that states can tailor their approaches to better serve their students.

Overall, parents are optimistic about the changes taking place in the education system under President Trump’s leadership. They believe that the focus on merit-based opportunity, eliminating divisive ideologies, and restoring trust in the system will benefit students across the country. As the administration continues to prioritize education, families are hopeful for a brighter future in American schools.
