NHL: Hellebuyck, MacKinnon, Luukkonen named three stars of the week
NHL Names Three Stars of the Week
The NHL has announced its three stars of the week, with Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon, and Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen taking the honors.
Hellebuyck was awarded the first star for his outstanding performance, stopping 88 of 89 shots over three games as the Jets continued their winning streak to six games.
The Jets made history by winning 14 of their first 15 games of the season, thanks in large part to Hellebuyck’s exceptional goaltending.
Hellebuyck, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, currently leads the league in wins, goals-against average, save percentage, and shutouts.
MacKinnon, the Hart Trophy winner, led the NHL in assists, points, and plus/minus rating across three games.
Luukkonen also had an impressive week, ranking second in the NHL in saves and posting a 3-0-0 record with a stellar goals-against average and save percentage.
