Nike and Brazil extend kit deal to 2038

Sao Paulo, Brazil –

In a significant move, Brazil soccer has announced the extension of its partnership with Nike for another 12 years, taking the collaboration all the way to 2038.

Sources familiar with the deal have revealed that the agreement is valued at a whopping US$100 million per year, with the addition of royalties on the sales of national team shirts, a feature not present in previous contracts.

The individual, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared the details of the agreement to The Associated Press.

Under this new agreement, the Brazilian Football Confederation will now have the opportunity to license products and establish stores globally for the first time.

CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “This contract exemplifies the strength of Brazilian soccer. This longstanding and successful partnership will continue to showcase the excellence of Brazilian soccer and uphold the legacy of jogo bonito.”

The collaboration between Brazil and Nike dates back to 1996, and the previous contract was set to expire in 2026.

Doug Bowles, Nike’s vice president for Latin America, emphasized the company’s commitment to Brazilian soccer, stating that the new deal reinforces their longstanding relationship.

Nike’s kits are worn by various Brazilian teams, including the men’s and women’s teams across all age groups, as well as the beach soccer and futsal teams.

Earlier this year, Nike secured a deal with the German soccer federation to take over as the provider of apparel and equipment for its national teams from 2027 to 2034, replacing Adidas. This agreement, reportedly valued at around 100 million euros ($108 million), marked a significant shift as Germany had a longstanding partnership with Adidas spanning over 70 years.

Apart from Brazil and Germany, Nike also sponsors national teams such as Australia, Croatia, England, France, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea.
