Noem says DHS won’t be ‘deterred’ from ICE raids, despite leaks

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has vowed that her agency will not be deterred by leaks, following the latest leak of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid. Noem emphasized that anyone who comes to this country and breaks the law will be hunted down.

During a press conference, Noem highlighted a recent successful operation that resulted in the arrest of MS-13 and 18th Street gang members, as well as sex offenders. The leaked information about the planned ICE raids in Northern Virginia had been reported by Migrant Insider, sparking concerns that the leaks could put ICE agents in danger.

Noem expressed frustration over the leaks and pointed the finger at the FBI, calling the agency corrupt. She stated that her department will work with any agency to stop leaks and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.

The leaks have drawn criticism from ICE officials, who fear that the premature disclosure of raid plans could jeopardize the safety of law enforcement officers. Previous leaks have included details about raids in Los Angeles and Aurora, Colorado.

Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid also reported on the expected ICE activity in Northern Virginia and advised followers on how to handle encounters with ICE agents. Despite concerns about the potential harm to ICE agents, Pablo Manriquez, the editor of Migrant Insider, defended the decision to publish the leaked information, stating that they were simply reporting the news.

Border czar Tom Homan previously stated that the administration was closing in on the individual responsible for leaking information about the Aurora raid. Noem’s comments about the leaks have reignited the debate over the role of the media in reporting on law enforcement activities.

Attorney General Pam Bondi echoed Homan’s concerns, emphasizing that leaking sensitive information puts the lives of law enforcement officers at risk. Bondi warned that those responsible for leaks would face consequences for their actions.

In conclusion, the issue of leaks surrounding ICE raids continues to be a contentious topic. Noem’s strong stance against leaks and commitment to prosecuting those responsible underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of law enforcement operations.
