Nova Scotia RCMP investigating 2 fatal fires

Nova Scotia RCMP are currently investigating two fatal fires that occurred over the weekend in Shelburne County and Colchester County.

The first fire took place on West Head Road in West Head, N.S. in Shelburne County. First responders were called to the scene at 1:35 a.m. AT on Sunday to find a house fully engulfed in flames. Tragically, a 74-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a dog that lived with the man was found deceased inside the home. Despite the devastating loss, police have stated that they do not believe the fire to be suspicious.

In a separate incident, a second fire was reported in Colchester County near the 4000 block of Alton Road in Alton, N.S. First responders arrived at the scene at 6:30 a.m. on Monday to find another residence fully engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, human remains were discovered inside the home. Police have not released any further details regarding the identity of the individual. While the authorities do not suspect foul play in this fire either, they are seeking information from anyone who may have knowledge about the incident.
