US Election 2024

NYC socialist mayoral candidate silent on radical ‘Socialism 2025’ platforms

Socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s campaign is facing scrutiny after a series of radical platforms and messages were promoted during an annual gathering of socialist activists and leaders in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend. The conference, titled “Socialism 2025,” featured discussions on radicalizing high school students, overthrowing the U.S. government, performing DIY abortions, and other controversial topics.

Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani’s campaign to inquire about his stance on the platforms and ideas promoted at the conference, but did not receive an immediate response. Mamdani, who describes himself as a Democratic socialist, has previously embraced radical left-wing policies, including ending private homeownership in favor of communal living.

The “Socialism 2025” conference brought together thousands of socialists and radical activists from around the country to discuss various topics such as social movements, abolition, Marxism, and decolonization. The event featured panels led by college professors, community organizers, activists, and others.

During the conference, attendees heard calls for radicalizing high school students, overthrowing the U.S. government, performing DIY abortions, and abolishing the family. Some speakers even called for the dismantling of the United States and urged everyone to join in their activism without question.

Mamdani did not attend the conference in Chicago, but his association with Democratic socialist policies has raised concerns about the direction he may take if elected as the next mayor of New York City. His victory in the mayoral race was viewed as a shift to the left for the Democrat Party in the city, following national backlash against the party’s embrace of some left-wing policies in the 2024 election.

President Donald Trump has criticized Mamdani as a “Communist Lunatic” and vowed to “save New York City” from his radical agenda. Trump’s comments have sparked a debate over the future of the city and the role of socialism in local politics.

As the mayoral campaign heats up, Mamdani’s stance on the radical platforms promoted at the “Socialism 2025” conference will likely come under further scrutiny. Voters will be watching closely to see how Mamdani addresses these controversial issues and whether he can reassure New Yorkers that he has their best interests at heart.
