NYPD divers seen searching Central Park lake as manhunt for CEO killer continues

The search for evidence related to the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City’s Central Park continues as the NYPD Scuba Team scours the lake in the park. Divers were seen searching the lake on Sunday morning, near where officials found a backpack linked to the suspect. The search yielded Monopoly money and a jacket, but no gun was recovered. The backpack will undergo forensic testing for trace evidence processing.

The manhunt for the suspect has now spread to multiple states as authorities believe he has fled New York City. The suspect was last seen at the Port Authority bus station, leading police to conclude he is no longer in the city. The FBI has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction.

Former FBI agent Scott Duffey explained that the backpack will be tested for DNA, fibers, and other trace evidence. The suspect’s movements have been traced from the scene of the shooting to Central Park and then to the bus station. Retired Washington, D.C., homicide detective Ted Williams noted that the Monopoly money found in the backpack may be a taunt to authorities, indicating that the suspect is in control.

The NYPD continues to investigate the case, with divers searching the lake for any additional evidence. The search has been ongoing for five days, with officials expanding their efforts to neighboring states. The suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown, but authorities are working diligently to track him down.

The investigation into the murder of Brian Thompson is ongoing, with law enforcement agencies collaborating to bring the perpetrator to justice. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may help solve the case. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
