Off-duty RCMP officer intentionally struck by car in Colchester County
An RCMP officer was seriously injured Sunday morning in Colchester County when he was intentionally struck by a vehicle.
According to an RCMP news release, the officer was on his way home at about 3:20 a.m. after completing his shift when he noticed a school bus parked on Highway 311 in North River, near Truro.
The officer stopped to question the bus’s lone occupant, a man in his early 20s with long blond hair that was shaved on the sides.
The man refused to identify himself and fled on foot.
When the officer gave chase, he was struck by a dark sedan.
“The injured officer was able to take cover behind the bus when the man, who had fled on foot, got in the vehicle,” RCMP said.
“A second attempt to strike the officer then occurred.”
