Ohio refers noncitizen voters and multi-state voting cases for prosecution

Ohio’s Secretary of State, Frank LaRose, has taken decisive action in the fight against election fraud by referring dozens of noncitizens and double voters for potential prosecution in eight states and Washington, D.C. The investigation conducted by Ohio’s Election Integrity Unit uncovered evidence of 30 non-U.S. citizens who were registered to vote in Ohio, as well as eleven individuals from Virginia, Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, and South Carolina who appeared to have voted in multiple jurisdictions.

In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, LaRose emphasized the importance of maintaining election integrity and enforcing the law whenever it is broken. He stated, “We must send a clear message that election fraud won’t be tolerated. The only way to maintain Ohio’s high standard of election integrity is to enforce the law whenever it’s broken.”

The investigation was conducted by reviewing Ohio’s voter registry and comparing it with federal and state data. LaRose has sent letters to the attorneys general of all states involved in the investigation and referred the individuals for prosecution. He stressed that even one illegal vote can have a significant impact on election outcomes, citing a recent example in Licking County where a single vote decided the outcome of a local levy.

This action by Ohio’s Secretary of State comes in the wake of President Donald Trump’s Justice Department suing the State of North Carolina for allegedly failing to maintain an accurate voter list. The lawsuit claims that North Carolina is in violation of the 2002 Help America Vote Act (HAVA) after board officials provided a voter registration form that did not clearly specify the required information.

The Trump administration alleges that a “significant number” of North Carolina voters were registered without providing the necessary information as required by HAVA. A previous edition of the state elections board, which had a Democratic majority, acknowledged the issue but failed to rectify it in time for the 2024 elections.

In light of these developments, it is clear that efforts to combat election fraud and ensure the integrity of the voting process are crucial. Ohio’s Secretary of State, Frank LaRose, is leading the charge in holding individuals accountable for illegal voting practices and sending a strong message that election fraud will not be tolerated. It is essential to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process and protect the rights of legitimate voters.
