Tragedy struck Melmerby Beach Provincial Park near New Glasgow, N.S., on Friday as one person lost their life in an accidental drowning incident.

The tragic incident occurred late Friday afternoon at Melmerby Beach, prompting a swift response from RCMP, paramedics, and fire services.

According to Paul Service, an RCMP spokesperson, lifeguards at the provincial park were also involved in rescuing several other individuals from the water around the same time.
