One person dead in Cape Breton after vehicle goes into the water

Police in Cape Breton located a body after a vehicle went into the water in East Bay on Sunday. A person who heard a loud noise and saw a vehicle sinking in the water notified police around 6 a.m. Sunday.

Police in Cape Breton located a body after a vehicle went into the water in East Bay on Sunday.

A person who heard a loud noise and saw a vehicle sinking in the water notified police around 6 a.m. Sunday.

Fire rescue teams from Glace Bay and Dominion among other first responders attended the scene and pulled the vehicle from the water. The body was found in the vehicle.

Police believe the vehicle was travelling toward Route 4 when it crossed the bridge on Chapel Road and went into the water. The cause of the crash in unknown and police say the vehicle will be inspected.
