Ottawa to investigate unpaid accusations of airlines, the key to Air Canada Strike

Jobs Patty Hajdu Minister tells the Canadian press that the federal government is launching a probe in accusations of unpaid work in the aviation sector as a work break at Air Canada extends.

One of the most important complaints of the trade union that Air Canada Stewardessen represents is that employees are not paid for tasks that are performed before taking off.

Hajdu says in an interview that she finds those claims deeply disturbing and says that the probe will close such meshes under the leadership of her department if they exist.

The minister’s announcement comes two days after she had asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board to impose binding arbitration on the bound parties.

The union of the stewardesses took that order and stays on the picket line, so that Air Canada flights were grounded for a third day, even after Cirb ruled on Monday that the strike is illegal.

Hajdu says that the federal liberal government is not considering calling back the parliament early to impose back-to-work legislation.
