Pair arrested in 2022 Halifax homicide sent to trial in N.S. Supreme Court

A Halifax couple charged in the March 2022 shooting death of Treyvhon Bradshaw have been committed to stand trial in Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

Makayle Larry James Skinner, 27, was arrested in June 2022 and charged with first-degree murder. Jasyhia Simone Watters, 26, was picked up by police two weeks later and charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder by allegedly trying to help her boyfriend escape justice.

Skinner and Watters appeared in Halifax provincial court last month for a preliminary inquiry. At the end of the hearing, the Crown reduced the charge against Skinner to second-degree murder, and Judge Micheal Sherar sent both accused on to Supreme Court for a jury trial.

The case was first in Supreme Court in mid-December. Dates for the trial are expected to be set next week.

Bradshaw, 25, was shot in the 2100 block of Gottingen Street in Halifax on March 18, 2022, at about 2:35 a.m. and died in hospital.
