IRCC sent out 5000 PR invites in 4 Express Entry draws this week

Last updated July 8, 2023, 9:36 AM EDT (Toronto time)
IRCC this week sent out 5,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in 4 different Express Entry draws with a CRS cutoff ranging from 439 to 511.
A good week for the profiles invited to these 4 Express Entry draws, especially in French-language and healthcare-focused invites, who otherwise won the pool with a high CRS cutoff in each time no program specified pulls.

It’s a historic week for Express Entry with consecutive draws from July 4 to July 7, 2023 and officially introducing new targeted draws.
This week is also unique in that it has brought more clarity to applicants waiting for an ITA in the Express Entry pool.
In this article, we provide our observation and expectations for Express Entry applicants in the pool waiting for an invite.
Total number of invitations remains the same
We expected IRCC to track the total number of ITAs at around 4,800 based on previous draw sizes.
It seems that IRCC has kept up with this total number by inviting a total of 5,000 profiles this week.
IRCC has previously clarified that normal ‘no program specified draws’ will continue, but new targeted draws will be part of the invitations.
So, based on this week’s number of ITAs, it appears that IRCC has broken down the total number of invites by “no program specified,” healthcare, STEM, and francophone profiles.
If there had been no targeted draws at all, we would have seen approximately 4,800-5,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) falling under ‘no program specified’ draws.
Going forward, we will see a similar split of ITAs into bi-weekly draws across different categories.
Express Entry is drawing pattern this week
IRCC first conducted a ‘no program specified’ draw and then stunningly declared the targeted draws.
Overall, this could have benefited from the targeted draws on the following days for STEM and healthcare professions, as well as Francophiles.
Though, IRCC is trying to be transparent, but we believe that with the introduction of targeted Express Entry draws, more clarity is still needed.
This week’s first draw was announced on July 4, 2023, and public data for the distribution of the CRS score in the pool will be updated on the same date.
However, they have not updated the distribution of the CRS score in the pool after the 4th and it appears that IRCC may have only selected profiles depending on the data available on the 4th of July; even for the targeted draws of July 5, 6 or 7.
If you are one of the candidates who created an Express Entry profile after July 5 and still received the ITA in STEM, Healthcare or Francophile draw, please contact us.
Anyway, a stunning pattern has developed this week with ‘no program specified’ drawing on the first day, followed by profession specific drawing and also for Francophiles.
Healthcare V/s VOTE Draws
IRCC has shortlisted 82 professions that they will target in 2023 in profession-specific draws.
Of these 82 professions, 59 belong to the Healthcare professions (35) and STEM (24).
These 2 profession specific Express Entry draws will be seen more often compared to the rest of the trade and agriculture focused draws.
In addition, most Express Entry profiles under the occupation-specific draw are eligible for STEM occupations, followed by a relatively low number in healthcare.
We’ve run a poll on our official Instagram account. Voices from our Instagram family say that about 65% of users have experience in STEM professions, while only 38% are eligible for healthcare draws.
Although, this poll is only from our Instagram fam, but it clearly indicates that the CRS score for STEM profiles is significantly higher than for healthcare.
There are relatively more profiles in STEM compared to other targeted occupational sectors.
Low CRS threshold for the rest of the professions
We predicted a low healthcare CRS cutoff around 465, but it came out at 463. So our expectation was close.
Everyone is talking about STEM, healthcare and Francophiles this week, but our expectation is that IRCC will have to keep up with their efforts.
As a result, they will also do a special draw for the rest of the 24 trades, transportation, and agriculture trades.
Truck drivers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians and butchers will benefit the most.
With a targeted Express Entry draw for these 3 sectors, we expect the CRS cutoff to remain lower than healthcare draws or even lower than French draws.
In general, we always recommend our readers to create an Express Entry profile if they are eligible as IRCC is full of surprises.
But if you have experience in any of the professions listed below and you qualify for Express Entry, please create your profile as soon as possible.
It is more likely that IRCC will target these professions as part of their selection criteria in upcoming targeted Express Entry draws.
24 professions other than STEM or healthcare
Conclusion
Previously everyone suggested to work on improving your CRS score but the situation has now changed with the introduction of targeted draws.
If you’re in the Express Entry pool, just work on gaining experience in one of the 82 selected occupations and learning French to fall under targeted draws.
Try to find a job or payroll (not legal, but most applicants go this route) in one of these 82 select occupations to increase your chances of being invited.
Don’t forget that all these professions are also on the priority list for most PNPs.
We often meet individuals who claim they are trying their best to get Canadian PR but don’t want to learn French.
It is the official Canadian language and yes you can learn it like you learned English to sit for IELTS in the first place.
Instead of spending your hard-earned money around $30,000-40,000 on getting LMIAs or job openings, earn a little less and spend some time learning French.
With dedication, it takes no more than 6 months and your permanent residency (PR) is almost guaranteed.
Learning French can increase your score by 50 points, plus these are the fewest CRS scores that require profiles to pass an ITA. Not to mention, bilinguals also have better job prospects.
When was the last Express Entry Draw of 2023?
On July 7, IRCC announced the Francophile Express Entry lottery for candidates with a minimum level 7 proficiency in French. The minimum CRS score was 439.
On July 6, 2023, a targeted Express Entry drawing for 35 healthcare professions will issue 1,500 permanent residency invitations. The minimum CRS score was 463.
On July 5, 2023, the IRCC sent out only 500 invitations to register for 24 STEM professions with a CRS score of 486 or higher.
On July 4, 2023, the No Program Specified Express Entry draw sent 700 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates with a CRS score of 511 and at least six months of experience in one of the STEM professions within the past three years.
