GOP Rep says judicial pushback on Trump is actually ‘hurting the American people’

Georgia Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde is taking a strong stance against judges who continue to obstruct President Donald Trump’s agenda from being implemented. Clyde, along with Rep. Eli Crane, is in the process of drafting articles of impeachment against U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer, who has been a roadblock to Trump’s legal challenges.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Clyde emphasized that the real victims of judicial pushback against Trump’s policies are the American people. He argued that by obstructing the president’s authority, judges are denying the American people their rights and the ability to see their elected leader fulfill his duties. Clyde expressed his frustration, stating, “You’re not just hurting the president; you’re hurting the American people because they’re the ones who elected him.”

One of the judges in Clyde’s crosshairs is District Judge John McConnell, who issued a motion ordering the Trump administration to comply with a restraining order that temporarily blocked the administration’s efforts to pause federal grants and loans. McConnell has faced criticism from Trump supporters and conservatives, who accuse him of being a liberal activist. A video from 2021 surfaced online, showing McConnell discussing the importance of upholding the rule of law and considering the diverse backgrounds of individuals who come before the court.

Since President Trump took office, there has been a surge in legal challenges against his administration, with over 70 lawsuits filed against various policies and executive orders. Clyde remains confident that the president will prevail in these legal battles, citing Trump’s authority under Article II of the Constitution. However, he expressed concern that judges like McConnell and Engelmayer are preventing the president from exercising his rightful authority and addressing issues of waste, fraud, and abuse in government.

Clyde called on his congressional colleagues to join his and Crane’s efforts to hold judges accountable and ensure that they do not impede the president’s agenda. He emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution and respecting the will of the American people who elected Trump to office.

As the impeachment threat against Judge Engelmayer looms, Clyde remains steadfast in his mission to defend the president and protect the rights of the American people. He urged judges to uphold the rule of law without injecting personal biases into their decisions, emphasizing the need for accountability in the judiciary.

In conclusion, Clyde’s efforts to challenge judges who obstruct President Trump’s agenda reflect a commitment to upholding the Constitution and ensuring that the voices of the American people are heard. By holding judges accountable and advocating for the president’s authority, Clyde is working to safeguard the principles of democracy and protect the rights of all citizens.
