Parts of Nova Scotia under severe weather warnings as storms roll through
A cluster of thunderstorms moving into western Nova Scotia is a bringing heavy rain and the risk of flash flooding today.
Rainfall rates exceeding 25 millimetres per hour are likely in the heaviest downpours.
Totals may exceed 100 millimetres locally from these storms.
As of 1:12 p.m., Environment Canada had severe thunderstorm warnings in place for Yarmouth, Shelburne, Queens and Digby counties.
Severe thunderstorm watches are in place for Annapolis, Kings and Lunenburg counties.
Storms will slowly move east this afternoon and warnings may be expanded.
Heat warnings have also been issued for all areas of Nova Scotia except southwestern sections of the province.
Environment Canada says humidex values are expected to reach 36 degrees.
