Pat King gets 3-month conditional sentence plus time served

Pat King Receives Three-Month Conditional Sentence for Convoy Protest Charges

Pat King, a key organizer of the 2022 convoy protest in downtown Ottawa, was handed a three-month conditional sentence on Wednesday, taking into account the time he has already spent in jail.

Back in November, King was found guilty in Ontario Superior Court on five criminal charges, including mischief, counselling to commit mischief, counselling to obstruct a public or peace officer, and two counts of disobeying a court order.

During the sentencing hearing, Crown prosecutor Moiz Karimjee argued that King’s actions were among the most severe and requested a 10-year sentence, the maximum penalty for mischief.

In response, King’s defense team requested credit for time served, highlighting the days he had already spent in custody following his arrest in February 2022.

Ultimately, King was handed a 12-month sentence, with nine months credited for time served in jail and under restrictive bail conditions. The remaining three months of the sentence come with conditions, including maintaining good behavior and regular check-ins with the court.
