Pedestrian taken to hospital after being hit by van in New Minas

RCMP in New Minas are investigating a vehicle-pedestrian collision Thursday night that left one person with serious injuries.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to Prospect Road in the village at about 10:45 p.m

Const. Dominic Laflamme said the 38-year-old man was taken to hospital after being  struck by a Dodge Caravan.

A collision reconstructionist was called to the scene, and the road was closed between Highbury Road and Milne Avenue for about four hours, reopening around 3 p.m.

“At this point I don’t think they’re pursuing anything criminal, but it’s still early in the investigation,” Laflamme said.
