Pedestrians struck in two crosswalks in HRM

Halifax Regional Police are investigating two car-pedestrian collisions that occurred in Halifax on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The first happened at the intersection of Oxford Street and Chebucto Road on Wednesday at about 9 p.m. Police say a woman was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a Halifax Transit bus. She was taken to hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, Const. John MacLeod said.

No tickets had been issued as of Thursday morning but MacLeod said the investigation is continuing.

On Thursday, a pedestrian was crossing MacDonald Avenue at Thornhill Drive at about 7:15 a.m. when they were struck by a vehicle, suffering relatively minor injuries. They were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk
