Pentagon backs Anthony Tata amid Florida legal dispute with astrologer

The Pentagon Stands Firmly Behind Under Secretary Anthony Tata Amid Legal Dispute

The Pentagon is showing unwavering support for Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Anthony Tata as he navigates a legal dispute in Florida involving an astrologer. Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that Tata continues to have the full confidence of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“Under Secretary Tata has the complete and total confidence of Secretary Hegseth in his role and will continue to have his support,” Parnell stated. “Mr. Tata has done a fantastic job delivering on the priorities of this Department and this administration. We strongly stand by him.”

The legal battle stems from a complaint filed in Palm Beach County, where John Doe, believed to be Tata, accused Amy Tripp of harassment, defamation, and attempted extortion. The lawsuit alleges that Tripp threatened Doe’s marriage and career while demanding money to remain silent.

The relationship between Doe and Tripp began on the dating app Bumble in April 2024, evolving into both a casual sexual and professional relationship centered around astrology. Doe even invested in Tripp’s company, Starheal LLC, in exchange for a 5% equity stake.

A temporary restraining order was granted against Tripp in August 2025 after the alleged harassment escalated. Court records indicate that Tripp has been summoned to respond to the allegations within 20 days.

Despite the legal challenges, Tata’s career spans decades of military and public service. A retired Army brigadier general and novelist, Tata served for 28 years, including time in Afghanistan. Following his military career, he held civilian leadership roles, including serving as North Carolina’s transportation secretary.

Tata, a West Point graduate, is a recipient of numerous military honors, including the Army Distinguished Service Medal and the Combat Action Badge. However, his public career has faced scrutiny, leading to his resignation from the transportation post in 2015 and drawing attention to past social media posts during his 2020 Pentagon nomination.

As the legal battle unfolds, Tata remains focused on his responsibilities as Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. The Pentagon’s support for Tata underscores their confidence in his abilities to fulfill his duties effectively.
