Playoffs set at Scotties as Einarson claims top seed, defending champion Homan unbeaten

Kerri Einarson’s curling team from Manitoba has had an impressive run at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, claiming a top playoff seed after a challenging journey to get there. Einarson, who led her team to four consecutive Canadian women’s curling championships from 2020 to 2023, found herself trailing at the fifth-end break in three of her four wins to close out pool play.
“We’re thrilled to be in this position because it didn’t look promising early on in the week,” Einarson expressed on Thursday night. “It’s been a tough road, but we’re heading in the right direction and hitting our stride at the right time.”
Einarson’s team, along with Nova Scotia’s Christina Black and Ontario’s Danielle Inglis, finished with a 6-2 record to advance from a competitive Pool B, earning them the top three seeds, respectively. Defending champion Rachel Homan led Pool A with a perfect 8-0 record heading into the championship round, followed by Alberta’s Kayla Skrlik and B.C.’s Corryn Brown at 6-2.
