Poilievre says Conservatives will fight for change in new session of Parliament

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is gearing up for a new session of Parliament, promising to push measures that will make Canada more affordable, safe, self-reliant, and united. Despite not winning the election, Poilievre remains determined to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of those who supported him.

In a recent address to his caucus in Ottawa, Poilievre emphasized the importance of working towards a budget that reveals the true deficit, lowers spending, taxes, and inflation. He stressed the need to cut taxes and red tape to boost home construction, remove the industrial carbon tax, and strengthen punishments for violent crimes. Additionally, Poilievre called for collaboration with Prime Minister Mark Carney to eliminate U.S. tariffs on Canada and enhance the country’s domestic economy by investing in infrastructure projects like mines, pipelines, and hydroelectric dams.

While Poilievre’s seat in Carleton was not secured in the recent election, plans are in place for him to run in a byelection in Alberta. In the interim, former Conservative leader Andrew Scheer will serve as the leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons. Poilievre has appointed 73 critics to focus on specific policy areas.

As Parliament prepares to reconvene, MPs will select a speaker to maintain order during debates. Conservative MPs Chris d’Entremont and Tom Kmiec have put themselves forward for the role. The throne speech, outlining the government’s priorities for the new session, will be delivered by King Charles in the Senate.

Despite the challenges faced in the election, Poilievre remains steadfast in his commitment to advocating for change and working towards a better future for all Canadians. The Conservative caucus is ready to tackle the pressing issues facing the country and make meaningful progress towards a more prosperous and unified Canada.
