Pope Francis remains stable after month in hospital as he continues recovery

Pope Francis Continues Recovery One Month After Hospitalization

Pope Francis remains stable as he continues his recovery one month after he was hospitalized for a bout of bronchitis that turned into pneumonia. A recent medical bulletin from the Vatican’s Holy See Press Office stated that the Holy Father’s clinical conditions have remained stable, showing progress over the past week.

The Pope, who has been receiving treatment at the Gemelli hospital, was able to sign off on a three-year reform project aimed at making the Church a more welcoming place. Despite his hospitalization, he spent the day praying, resting, and working on important matters.

The Vatican disclosed that Pope Francis is still undergoing high-flow oxygen therapy, which is gradually reducing his need for non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night. This therapy is helping his lungs function better. The medical bulletin also mentioned that the Pope requires hospital medical therapy, as well as motor and respiratory physiotherapy, to aid in his gradual improvement.

Francis was initially admitted to the hospital on Feb. 14 after his bronchitis worsened, leading to double pneumonia. However, this week, there has been significant improvement in his health, with the Vatican stating that he is now “out of danger of death.”

The 88-year-old Pope, who underwent lung surgery as a child, has had a complicated health history. Despite this, a recent chest X-ray confirmed that his infection is clearing, indicating positive progress in his recovery. The Vatican plans to provide updates only when there is new information, with the next update scheduled for the middle of next week.

In the meantime, the Pope has been participating in Lenten spiritual exercises from the hospital and recently received get-well cards and a cake to celebrate his 12th anniversary as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church. While continuing his treatments, the nuns managing the Vatican’s switchboard are fielding calls from concerned individuals seeking updates on the Pope’s health.

As Pope Francis continues his journey towards full recovery, the entire world is keeping him in their thoughts and prayers. The Pope’s resilience and determination in the face of health challenges serve as an inspiration to many.
