Precipitation Warnings, warnings in effect for most of mainland Nova Scotia

Heavy rains that could lead to flash flooding and pooling on roads are expected to affect much of mainland Nova Scotia from Sunday to Tuesday.
Environment Canada said a trough of low pressure will spread rain across the Maritimes from Sunday evening.
Rain warnings have been issued for all of Cumberland County from Sunday night through Monday night.
Cumberland County North, Cobequid Pass and Minas Shore can expect rainfall in excess of 70 millimeters.
The agency said drivers in these areas should watch for potential leaching near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Environment Canada has issued special weather reports for Digby, Annapolis, Kings, Hants, Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth and Colchester counties, as well as for Halifax Metro and Halifax County West.
Those provinces can expect 45 millimeters or more of rain from Sunday evening to Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada meteorologist James Tirone said the low-pressure system originates in southern Ontario and is not related to the remnants of tropical systems.
“Usually we see quite a bit of this weather from May to June,” Tirone said.
“Precipitation levels like this are pretty typical of springtime in Nova Scotia. We just haven’t seen it that often. But this is our climatic norm for this time of year.”
Heavy downpours are also expected to hit PEI and parts of New Brunswick through Monday night.
