Predators put a stop to Jets’ franchise-record winning streak after 2-1 win

Juuse Saros stood tall in net, making 23 saves as the Nashville Predators put an end to the Winnipeg Jets’ franchise-record 11-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory on Thursday night. Filip Forsberg and Tommy Novak found the back of the net for Nashville, snapping a two-game losing skid.
The game got off to a quick start as Forsberg opened the scoring just 4:26 into the first period. A well-executed play off a faceoff saw Gustav Nyquist feed Forsberg, who fired a wrist shot past Jets’ backup goalie Eric Comrie.
Winnipeg responded with Neal Pionk tying the game with a powerful slap shot from the right point late in the first period. However, Novak restored the Predators’ lead with a power-play goal with just over four minutes left in the opening frame.
A key moment in the game came towards the end of the first period when Saros made a crucial save on Kyle Connor’s breakaway attempt, preserving Nashville’s one-goal lead going into the intermission.
Despite having several power play opportunities, including a lengthy two-man advantage in the second period, the Jets failed to capitalize as they went 0 for 4 on the power play.
The Jets faced a tough challenge playing back-to-back games in Ottawa and Nashville, while the Predators managed to split the season series with Winnipeg, each team winning their two home games.
Looking ahead, both teams will be back in action on Saturday. The Jets will host the Philadelphia Flyers, while the Predators will face the New York Islanders on the road.
The victory was a much-needed boost for the Predators, who have faced their fair share of struggles this season. With Saros leading the way in goal and contributions from Forsberg and Novak on offense, Nashville will look to build on this win and string together some positive results as they push for a playoff spot.
