Progressive Democrat slammed for ‘unhinged’ threat against prominent senator
Progressive Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, is facing backlash for her recent comments implying violence towards Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. In a recent interview, Crockett suggested that Cruz “has to be knocked over the head, like hard,” sparking criticism and accusations of inciting violence.
Crockett’s remarks have drawn strong reactions online, with many condemning her for advocating for violence against a political opponent. Sen. Cruz responded to the controversy by sharing a meme on social media, while conservative voices called for an investigation into Crockett’s comments.
This is not the first time Crockett has been criticized for using violent rhetoric. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi previously warned her to “tread very carefully” after she called for Elon Musk to be “taken down.” Despite this warning, Crockett was once again caught on camera advocating for figuratively “punching” her fellow Texan, Cruz.
In response to questions about winning elections in Texas, Crockett stated, “I think that you punch, I think you punch, I think you OK with punching.” These remarks have been met with concern and condemnation from both sides of the political spectrum.
Conservative voices online have labeled Crockett as “unhinged” and accused her of inciting violence. Sen. Mike Lee advised against making such statements, while others expressed concern that her words could be interpreted as a call to action by mentally disturbed individuals.
This controversy comes amid a series of violent incidents targeting Tesla owners and workers. In Las Vegas, five Tesla vehicles were set on fire and shot at in what authorities are investigating as a “targeted attack.” The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is looking into the incident.
Crockett’s previous comments about Elon Musk have also raised eyebrows, with some interpreting her words as a call for action. Despite the backlash, Crockett has maintained that her calls to action are nonviolent and are about fighting for democracy.
Both Crockett and Cruz have yet to respond to requests for comment on the controversy. The situation continues to unfold as political tensions remain high in Texas and across the country.
