PWHL’s Boston Fleet beat Toronto Sceptres 4-1

The Toronto Sceptres faced a tough loss on Wednesday night as they were unable to climb out of the Professional Women’s Hockey League basement, falling to the Boston Fleet with a score of 4-1.
Heading into the game, the Sceptres were sitting at the bottom of the six-team league with just 11 points, trailing Boston by only one point.
The Boston Fleet came out strong, with Alina Muller and Emily Brown each scoring their first goal of the season in the first period. Aerin Frankel was a standout player for Boston, making an impressive 35 saves to secure the win for her team.
Boston, with a record of 3-2-2-4, was able to clinch a regulation win for the first time since their last home game at the Tsongas Center on Dec. 17. Muller opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game, redirecting a pass from Hannah Brandt to give Boston a 1-0 lead. She then assisted on Brown’s goal, making it 2-0 with just over two minutes left in the first period.
Shay Maloney extended Boston’s lead to 3-0 early in the third period, scoring just 58 seconds in. Megan Keller sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the final seconds of the game.
Toronto, with a record of 3-0-2-6, managed to get on the board late in the game when Kali Flanagan set up captain Blayre Turnbull for a goal. Despite the late effort, Toronto was unable to overcome Boston’s lead.
Frankel’s stellar performance in goal, recording her seventh career 30-save game, was a key factor in Boston’s victory.
Overall, it was a tough night for the Toronto Sceptres as they continue to struggle in the league standings. They will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next game to try and climb out of the basement.
