Radical Dem breaks silence after unearthed social media post ignites controversy

Far-left Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Florida, found himself at the center of a social media firestorm after an old tweet featuring rap lyrics resurfaced. The tweet, posted in 2016, read “f—– wit my gang gon get u spilled” and was in response to a tweet by an account named “Hits LeBlunt.” The lyrics were from the song “Gang” by rapper Max P.
The controversial post sparked criticism and concern among social media users, with many questioning the appropriateness of a sitting member of Congress having such content on their official account. Even Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele weighed in on the controversy, posting a shrug emoji in response.
Rather than deleting the post, Frost chose to address the backlash head-on. He tweeted, “Never thought Max P lyrics I tweeted at 19 would get so much attention from MAGA.” He also shared a photo of himself in his high school band, jokingly stating, “I’ve only ever been in one gang.”
Despite Frost’s attempts to diffuse the situation with humor, the controversy continued to swirl online. Some users mocked Frost by creating AI meme images depicting him with tattoos reading “DeMS-13.” Conservative influencers and commentators also joined in on the criticism, with many pointing out the inappropriate nature of the tweet for a member of Congress.
Frost was part of a delegation of Democratic lawmakers who traveled to El Salvador to advocate for the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported illegal immigrant and alleged MS-13 gang member. The congressman accused President Trump of illegally arresting and deporting individuals without due process, calling for Abrego Garcia’s release from the Salvadoran “Terrorist Confinement Center.”
In addition to Frost, Sen. Chris Van Hollen and Reps. Robert Garcia, Maxine Dexter, and Yassamin Ansari also made the trip to El Salvador on behalf of Abrego Garcia. The group’s efforts to secure his release have sparked both praise and criticism, with many questioning the lawmakers’ priorities and actions.
While the controversy surrounding Frost’s old tweet may have overshadowed his advocacy efforts in El Salvador, the congressman remains committed to fighting for the rights of deported individuals and holding the Trump administration accountable for its immigration policies. As the debate rages on, Frost’s actions and words continue to be scrutinized by both supporters and critics alike.
