Ralph Norman pushes term limits, supports Trump’s plan for continuing resolution

Rep. Ralph Norman, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, recently spoke with Fox News Digital about the idea of passing a continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown. While he typically does not support continuing resolutions, he expressed his backing for one in this particular case. Norman highlighted the importance of the DOGE effort to identify waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending. Under President Donald Trump’s direction, Elon Musk has been instrumental in uncovering excess spending, a crucial step in streamlining government operations.

Norman emphasized the need for time to discern between necessary and unnecessary expenditures within the federal government, citing this as a new and essential development. Trump has also voiced support for a continuing resolution, emphasizing the importance of funding the government until September to allow for further work on the administration’s agenda. This approach is expected to pave the way for tax cuts and spending reductions, contributing to the overall goal of making America great again.

In terms of budget appropriations, Norman expressed confidence that the upcoming months would see the timely passage of the 12 appropriation bills for the 2026 budget. As a proponent of term limits for federal lawmakers, Norman is pushing for a Constitutional amendment that would restrict the number of terms politicians can serve in Congress. This initiative has garnered support from both sides of the aisle, with the aim of preventing politicians from becoming entrenched in the Washington power structure for extended periods.

Sen. Ted Cruz and other GOP senators are also championing the proposed Constitutional amendment in the Senate. Norman underscored the importance of having individuals with business experience in Congress, emphasizing the value of practical knowledge in legislative decision-making. He reiterated that serving as a lawmaker is not overly complicated, suggesting that those with a background in business and finance are well-equipped for the role.

The push for term limits and greater fiscal responsibility reflects a broader effort within the Republican Party to address longstanding issues of government accountability and efficiency. By reining in excessive spending and promoting transparency in budgetary matters, lawmakers like Rep. Ralph Norman are working towards a more effective and responsive government. As these initiatives progress, the focus remains on delivering tangible results for the American people.
