Ramaswamy officially launches gubernatorial campaign in Ohio: ‘Best days are still yet ahead’

Vivek Ramaswamy officially announced his candidacy for Ohio governor during a rally in his hometown of Cincinnati, where he pledged to restore Ohio to its former glory as a state of excellence. The 39-year-old multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate outlined his vision for Ohio’s future, declaring that the state’s best days are still ahead.
Ramaswamy, who previously challenged President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, emphasized his commitment to making Ohio a leader in America once again. He spoke about how Ohio was once a state that people aspired to be like, and he believes that with the right leadership, it can regain that status.
Having dropped out of the presidential race and become a staunch ally of Trump, Ramaswamy has a track record of supporting the former president’s agenda. He was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency initiative, known as DOGE, by Trump, but recently stepped down to make way for Elon Musk to take over.
Ramaswamy’s decision to run for governor comes at a time when Ohio is preparing for a competitive race to succeed Governor Mike DeWine, who is term-limited. Other candidates in the GOP primary include Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and former Ohio Health Director Amy Acton, who are also vying for the top spot.
Ramaswamy, who was raised in Ohio by Indian immigrant parents, has deep roots in the state and is passionate about revitalizing its economy and industry. He kicked off his campaign at CTL Aerospace, a company specializing in aviation repair, symbolizing his vision for growth and innovation in Ohio.
With key members of Vice President JD Vance’s political team backing his campaign, including advisors Andy Surabian and Jai Chabria, Ramaswamy is poised to make a strong showing in the gubernatorial race. He has also received endorsements from Ohio GOP Treasurer Robert Sprague and former Morgan County local school board member Heather Hill.
As the race for governor heats up, Ohio residents can expect a vibrant and competitive campaign leading up to the 2026 election. Ramaswamy’s message of restoring Ohio to a state of excellence and innovation resonates with voters who are eager to see their state thrive once again.
