Rape allegations against Jay-Z ‘demonstrably false’: lawyer

Attorney Defending Jay-Z Denies Rape Allegation, Cites Evidence of False Claims

NEW YORK –

An attorney representing Jay-Z has come forward to defend the rapper against a recent rape allegation made by an unnamed woman. The attorney, Alex Spiro, held a press conference at Roc Nation’s New York headquarters to address the claim, stating that there is a significant amount of evidence proving the accuser’s account to be false.

The woman alleged that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted her in 2000, when she was only 13 years old, at an after-party for the MTV Music Awards. However, Spiro pointed out inconsistencies in her story, including an “impossible timeline” and a location that does not exist.

According to the lawsuit, the assault supposedly took place at a “large white residence with a U-shaped driveway.” Yet, photos show both Jay-Z and Combs at a nightclub following the award show, casting doubt on the accuser’s claims.

The woman claimed to have snuck out of her home in Rochester, hitched a ride to the award ceremony, watched the event on a jumbotron outside, befriended a limousine driver, and was then assaulted at the house party before fleeing to a nearby gas station to call her father for a ride home. Spiro argued that this narrative is implausible, as it would have required a five-hour drive from Rochester and there is no evidence of a jumbotron outside the VMAs in 2000.

Furthermore, the woman’s father has stated that he does not recall driving from Rochester to pick her up in New York City, adding to the attorney’s assertion that the story is fabricated.

Spiro emphasized, “It’s not just that this story is a lie and that it’s not true, it’s provably, demonstrably false. This never happened.”

The lawsuit against Jay-Z and Combs comes amidst a series of sexual assault allegations against Combs, who is currently in custody in New York awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. He has pleaded not guilty and is set to face trial in May.

The timing of the lawsuit is significant, as it was filed just before the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act in New York, which allows victims of sexual abuse a one-year window to file civil action regardless of the statute of limitations.

Initially suing Combs, the woman later amended her complaint to include Jay-Z in the sexual assault allegation, claiming that a third unnamed celebrity also witnessed the incident.

The legal proceedings were initiated by Tony Buzbee, a personal injury attorney in Houston, who has set up a hotline for accusers to come forward. Buzbee has been representing numerous individuals with allegations of sexual misconduct against Combs.

Last month, Jay-Z anonymously sued Buzbee, accusing him of attempting to blackmail him by making the rape allegation public unless a legal settlement was reached. Buzbee has refuted these claims, stating that he was simply trying to arrange a confidential mediation session.

In response to the allegations, Jay-Z expressed his support for true victims of sexual abuse in a statement last week.

However, Spiro accused Buzbee of exploiting the woman and undermining the voices of genuine victims. Buzbee, in turn, defended his client’s claim, stating that the courts are there to resolve factual disputes.
