Nova Scotia RCMP has identified a man who died last week after a meeting with Mounties in Aulds Cove, NS, but they did not publicly reveal his name.

Just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, Antigonish RCMP was called to make reports of a man who ran on Highway 104 in Aulds Cove.

An RCMP media release said that officers arrived and “communicated” with the man before fled and jumped from a steep dike in the ocean, disappeared from view. No other details have been provided.

RCMP contacted Fire Services and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center for help looking for the man.

Around 11 p.m. an RCMP boat from Port Hawkesbury recovered the body of the man from the water with the help of firefighters.

Earlier Monday, RCMP had asked the help of the public to identify the man.
