RCMP in Alberta believes motorcyclist died after collision with moose

EDMONTON – A motorcyclist has died after police believe he collided with a moose east of Edmonton.

RCMP says they received a call early Saturday about a man on Highway 16, just over 12 miles east of the county seat.

Police say they arrived to find the man, believed to be in his 60s and from Edmonton, dead.

They say their initial investigation found the motorcycle hit a moose, which was also found dead at the scene.

Police say speed was not a factor in the collision and that road conditions were clear and dry at the time.

The man’s body has been taken to the Medical Examiners’ Office for an autopsy.
