The Mounties say Brandon Crawford Grant, 26, is wanted on a provide-wide arrest warrant for being at large without excuse.
Police say they were called a home on the 100 block of West Petpeswick Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after reports of a man in distress. Officers learned the man had damaged the home with an axe and ran into the woods.
As a precaution, Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital and The Birches nursing home are currently on lockdown and Eastern Shore District High School has been placed in hold-and-secure.
RCMP say the public can expect to see officers in the area as they attempt to locate Grant, who may be armed.
He’s described as six-foot-four and 300 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who sees Grant or has information on his whereabouts is asked not to approach him and to call 911.
